The yellow SD-BH1000-Y is a reference for someone deliberately investigating Panasonic's Japanese one-loaf format. The base-model manual and maker specifications describe SD-BH1000, while Docomo's 2015 catalog identifies the yellow Y-suffix appliance. Its AC 100 V, 50–60 Hz rating and Japan-only design keep it outside direct-use US buying matches. The region matters before considering its useful collection of bread, dough, and dessert programs.

Panasonic calls this a 1斤 machine. That describes its Japanese loaf format, not a set of one-, one-and-a-half-, or two-pound buttons. The manual does not establish US-pound size settings, and neither flour input nor nominal format establishes a finished-loaf weight. It is better assessed through its exact recipes and the size of loaf they produce for the owner. No current imported offer, price, warranty terms, or hands-on baking result is verified here.

Twenty-two menus, with different levels of involvement

The manual's numbered table contains twenty-two selections. Ordinary white bread takes four hours, Pain de mie four hours fifty minutes, and Soft Bread four hours twenty minutes. Rapid white bread is one hour fifty-five minutes. These are meaningfully different schedules, rather than a single bread program with an optional fast button. Whole-wheat and French bread each take about five hours. Recipes incorporating cooked rice are separate from the rice-flour programs.

Arrange Bread is a semi-automatic route lasting two hours fifteen minutes in the inspected table. It calls for an owner intervention rather than promising an entirely unattended loaf. Quick Bread, at fifty-four minutes, and Soy Scone, at fifty-eight minutes, are also distinct operations with their own ingredients and early manual work. Their short durations should not be advertised as under-one-hour versions of an ordinary yeast-bread recipe. Cake, fresh chocolate, jam, and compote extend the menu into other tasks, each with its own procedure.

Two dispensers, with a combined inclusion limit

Dry yeast goes into a dedicated yeast case for the appropriate dry-yeast recipes. A separate raisin-and-nut container handles suitable inclusions. The manual limits the total quantity in that inclusion container to sixty grams; it is not sixty grams of fruit plus another sixty grams of nuts. Dry fruit should be cut as directed and nuts crushed to the recommended size. Overfilling or using sticky ingredients can prevent reliable release even when the feature is selected.

The table explicitly supports the raisin function on ordinary breads, Bread Dough, and the natural-yeast bread and dough courses. Pizza Dough does not carry that option. Cheese, chocolate, and other unsuitable additions use a hand-addition route instead. That division matters more than simply saying the machine has an automatic dispenser. Selecting the appropriate raisin setting and using ingredients suited to it are part of the recipe workflow; the compartment is not universal permission to automate every mixture.

Rice flour has two separate routes

Rice Flour Bread with wheat takes two hours thirty minutes, while Rice Flour Bread without wheat takes one hour fifty-five minutes. They are separate menu entries, numbered 10 and 11. The without-wheat instructions specify particular rice-flour products or a gluten-free rice-bread mix, with a recipe using 300 g of the specified mix. That is a documented recipe route, but the course is named for rice flour without wheat rather than a general Gluten Free preset.

The distinction prevents several misleading shortcuts. The machine's one-loaf format is not a verified gluten-free pound weight. A 300 g flour or mix quantity is not the finished bread's weight. The with-wheat recipe contains gluten and must not be confused with the without-wheat selection. The latter's ingredients and substitutions are also restricted in the manual. Someone choosing for a particular dietary formula needs to follow that exact route rather than assume any gluten-free flour blend will behave the same way.

Natural yeast means a specified starter process

Three programs cover natural-yeast work: a seven-hour loaf, four-hour dough preparation, and twenty-four-hour starter preparation. The starter instructions use Hoshino natural-yeast bread starter mixed with water in the supplied starter container. Once ready, it is refrigerated and used within the stated period. This is a concrete documented process, but it is not evidence that the machine creates a mature wild starter from plain flour and water or accepts any sourdough formula unchanged.

The natural-yeast dough program offers an owner a route to hand shaping and baking elsewhere. Ordinary dry-yeast Bread Dough takes one hour, and Pizza Dough forty-five minutes. These fixed programs should not be presented as user-editable proofing stages or saved custom sequences; such a programming system was not established. The supplied starter container and matching recipe are important parts of the natural-yeast proposition, especially when evaluating an older appliance with missing accessories.

Reservations apply to selected breads

The reservation function uses a completion time on the machine's clock. Eligible ordinary breads can be scheduled up to thirteen hours from the current time, while the natural-yeast loaf is limited to ten hours. Minimum settings vary by course: ordinary white bread starts at four hours ten minutes, while Pain de mie starts at five hours. Rapid Bread, the dough programs, and the nonbread tasks are not universal timer choices. The chart, not the timer headline, determines eligibility.

Panasonic lists a body approximately 24.1 cm wide, 30.4 cm deep, and 32.7 cm high, about six kilograms, and 370 watts. Lid opening and pan removal require additional working room. The fluorine-resin-coated pan and paddle need gentle hand washing; the manual prohibits dishwasher cleaning and abrasive tools. The yeast case has a separate wiping and drying procedure to keep release reliable. The SD-BH1000-Y fits an informed Japanese-market owner interested in these specific recipes and ingredient-handling systems. Its tradeoff is regional electrical use, fixed program structure, and the need to keep its twenty-two-menu instructions separate from later models.
