The SD-MT3-W has thirty-nine automatic menus, including a dry-natural-yeast loaf separate from the Hoshino starter-and-bread system. That distinction is the most useful starting point for an owner comparing similar Panasonic machines. The manual documents particular ingredients and fixed programs. It does not turn the phrase “natural yeast” into a general recommendation for every maintained wild starter.
Panasonic's maker support page confirms the exact white -W designation and supplies the operating book, recipe book and menu sheet. The electrical specification is 100V at 50/60Hz with 430W rated consumption. Panasonic explicitly describes a Japan-only design and excludes use under different supply voltage or frequency. This model remains a regional owner reference, outside routine US buying matches. No hands-on performance, current price or stock claim is made.
Two natural-yeast systems mean two preparations
Menu 20 is Dry Natural Yeast Bread, taking approximately four hours ten minutes. The recipe uses a type of dry natural yeast that does not need starter preparation, loaded into the yeast container as directed. It has its own quantity and formulation. The course supports suitable inclusions, crust choice and reservation according to its table row. Those functions belong to that defined recipe route.
The separate Hoshino system begins with a twenty-four-hour starter-preparation program, followed by a seven-hour loaf or four-hour dough program. Its starter needs the storage and handling described in the book. The FAQ explicitly says homemade natural yeast can have unstable fermentation strength and recommends Hoshino for that route. Neither the dry-natural-yeast program nor the starter-preparation program establishes adjustable proofing times for an unrelated sourdough culture.
The wheat-free course has an early scraping step
Menu 18 makes rice-flour bread containing wheat; menu 19 is rice-flour bread without wheat. The latter takes about one hour fifty-five minutes and supplies a specific recipe using 300g gluten-free rice-bread mix. It is a dedicated GF-specific course. There is no exact finished-pound capacity or GF weight selector established by the book.
The owner must return after approximately five minutes to scrape flour from the sides and restart. This step matters to someone whose plan is to load ingredients and immediately leave the kitchen. Reservation is supported by the course table, but the setup still needs the intervention described in the wheat-free instructions. The specified ingredient system also matters: Panasonic gives a named rice-flour and prepared-paste alternative and warns against unsuitable changes to oil or dairy ingredients.
Menu 29 is separately named Rice-Flour Cake and takes about one hour forty minutes, with a scraping step after roughly seven minutes. Its name and recipe should not be silently replaced with a GF yeast-bread claim. The cake course is a different preparation from menu 19. Likewise, cooked-rice bread and cooked-rice French bread use cooled cooked rice with wheat flour; they do not grind raw rice or replace the wheat-free recipe.
Ordinary bread and small-batch choices
Pain de mie takes approximately four hours fifty minutes, white bread four hours, soft bread four hours twenty minutes and sandwich bread three hours. French, rye and whole-wheat breads run for around five hours. Half Loaf takes three hours thirty-five minutes and has its own recipe and reservation support. It is not a size button that scales every style, and it lacks the ordinary inclusion option.
The one-kin format and Half Loaf designation remain Japanese recipe labels here. Flour quantities differ across recipes and do not establish precise finished weights in pounds. A buyer wanting a documented small GF loaf or small automatically filled loaf needs evidence for those particular combinations, not simply the existence of an ordinary Half Loaf program.
Fast bread, fast dough and quick bread are distinct
Rapid yeast bread takes approximately one hour fifty-five minutes, Quick Sweet bread two hours twenty minutes and sixty-minute bread an hour. Each uses its own formulation and preparation. The fifty-four-minute baking-powder quick bread is another category and needs early scraping and shaping. Soy scones take about fifty-eight minutes with their own similar intervention requirements.
Eight-minute speed dough is a kneading routine rather than a complete loaf or a fully proofed dough in eight minutes. Ordinary bread dough takes approximately an hour, pizza dough forty-five minutes and Hoshino dough four hours. The dough programs do not support reservation. Subsequent shaping, rising or cooking remains recipe-dependent work for the owner, including the noodle/pasta program that uses the separate paddle.
Dispenser convenience is ingredient-dependent
The raisin/nut container holds up to 100g combined. Suitable dry fruit and prepared nuts can be released automatically; wet, sticky or melting ingredients require hand addition at the signal. The yeast container serves a separate purpose. Coarse mixing is available on eligible courses to help preserve delicate pieces, with Panasonic's ingredient and water adjustments. It is not a user editor for all kneading and fermentation stages.
Ordinary bread dough and wheat-free rice-flour bread have suitable inclusion support. Pizza dough, speed dough and Half Loaf do not inherit the function. Brioche requires its butter addition, marble bread its marbling ingredients, and Arrange Bread owner work during the cycle. Three crust shades apply only to marked menus. Supported dry-yeast and dry-natural-yeast breads have completion reservations up to thirteen hours, while the Hoshino loaf has a ten-hour limit.
Cooking choices and the equipment check
Amazake, milk jam, fruit jam, compote, bean paste, mochi, cake, vegetable cake and chocolate broaden the menu. Amazake has a six-to-ten-hour cooking duration and an early rice-scraping step. Its adjustable time does not establish a bread-proofing temperature control. Mochi and noodle/pasta preparation require the separate noodle/mochi paddle, an alternative tool rather than a second paddle kneading bread simultaneously.
The body measures approximately 24.1cm wide, 30.4cm deep and 34.7cm high and weighs about 5.7kg. Inspect lid clearance, pan coating, shaft, release mechanisms and both paddles on an older unit. Panasonic excludes dishwasher use for the pan and paddles. Historical references include bread paddle ADD08-197, noodle/mochi paddle ADD82-150-K0 and pan ADA12-168; current availability is not established. A complete MT3-W is most attractive to an owner who can source and follow its particular yeast and rice-flour recipes, rather than someone seeking arbitrary fermentation control.
