THE FIT AT A GLANCE
At a glance
Eligible automatic fruit/nut release and documented adjustment of knead/rise/bake stage times.

The Starfrit 024707 is worth examining if you want both an automatic fruit-and-nut compartment and control over the stages of a bread cycle. Those are documented functions rather than conclusions drawn from a long menu count. Its appeal changes, however, if your main project is seeded pizza dough or a slow natural-starter loaf. The dispenser cannot operate on Dough, and the custom cycle has specific time limits. This is a source-based assessment of the North American model, without hands-on baking or noise measurements.
Identify the machine before comparing features
Starfrit’s own product page identifies SKU 0247070010000 and links the matching instruction booklet. The manual’s electrical table specifies item 024707 at 120 V, 60 Hz and 550 W. Keep those details together when checking an offered unit: the short item number and longer retail SKU describe the same documented product here. A similar-looking machine with another rating or model number needs its own instructions. This evidence does not establish an Amazon ASIN, and a marketplace title alone should not replace the underside label.
The maker describes 700 g and 900 g capacities, with approximate 1.5 lb and 2 lb marketing labels. The gram positions are the more precise instructions to follow. A maximum capacity also does not mean every course permits size selection. Before choosing it for a particular recipe, compare that recipe’s quantity with the controls available on its actual course. The official menu and eligibility rules are in the 024707 instruction booklet.
Automatic additions are genuinely useful, within their limits
The removable dispenser can release dry additions during an eligible bread cycle, so you do not necessarily have to return at a mixing alert. It is activated by the NUT control and can be disabled. That suits someone who repeatedly makes a fruit loaf and values avoiding a separate trip to the kitchen. It is still a compartment to load and clean; it cannot measure ingredients, decide an appropriate quantity or rescue a recipe that exceeds the pan’s capacity.
Crucially, the manual excludes the dispenser from Dough, Bake, Jam and Knead. A buyer planning to make nut-filled rolls should therefore expect to handle the additions themselves when using Dough. Gluten-Free is outside that exclusion list, as is Customize, so the documented eligibility is more useful than a blanket statement that the machine “has a dispenser.” There is no separate sourdough program established here. A custom natural-starter workflow requires its own timing decisions rather than a promised automatic sourdough process.
Customize is real, but it has a short fermentation ceiling
Customize lets the user set two kneading periods, three rising periods, baking and warming. The documented ranges are 6–14 and 5–20 minutes for kneading; 20–60, 5–40 and 0–60 minutes for the rises; up to 80 minutes for baking and 60 minutes for warming. These are meaningful controls for adjusting an established formula. They do not establish adjustable proofing temperature, and the instructions do not clearly promise that a program survives unplugging as a saved personal recipe.
The minimum kneading and first two rise stages also matter. You cannot assume that every unwanted stage can be reduced to zero. Even adding the three maximum rise periods gives a limited window for fermentation. Someone whose starter routinely needs several hours beyond that should plan a supervised process with separate shaping or proofing equipment, or choose a machine whose documented ranges fit that method. Owning a stage editor is helpful only when its permitted stages match the bread you actually make.
Gluten-free controls and everyday scheduling
There is a dedicated Gluten-Free course. The size-rule exclusions do not remove its 700 g and 900 g choices, and the recipe section supplies gluten-free examples using oat and corn flours. Treat those examples as model-specific starting points, not evidence that any packaged mix will work unchanged. Ingredient suitability must be checked independently, including the flour labels. The manual describes wetter dough, so judging it against the firm ball expected from a wheat loaf would be a poor reason to add extra flour.
The timer runs to 13 hours including the chosen course. It excludes Jam, Ultra-fast, Bake and Knead; the manual separately discourages delayed Whole Wheat. Dough and Gluten-Free remain eligible under those controls, but recipes containing eggs or dairy are excluded from delayed preparation. Thus timer eligibility is not permission to leave the booklet’s egg-containing GF mixture waiting overnight. Plan the desired completion time from the entire interval, then choose a recipe whose ingredients permit that wait.
Ownership details that affect the decision
Dough kneads and rises for later shaping and oven baking. Knead is a separate, fixed 25-minute mixing process, while Bake can be set from ten minutes to an hour. These give the owner several ways to divide the work, although none eliminates the need to watch fermentation. The manual also requires a 30-minute cooling period between cycles. That reduces its suitability for someone expecting consecutive production runs throughout a baking morning.
Starfrit lists a nonstick pan on its exact product page; that does not authenticate a ceramic coating claim. Its repairability notice says selected listed parts may be offered, but internal components and repair services are not supplied. Check the exact pan, paddle and dispenser route before buying a used unit. This is a documented option for eligible automatic mix-ins and short custom cycles, provided its gram sizes, limited fermentation ranges and course exclusions fit your routine.
